About Me
Creative Arts is no longer in business and now I work freelance. I've edited, consulted on, and/or helped rewrite well over 200 manuscripts of just about every genre. Am comfortable working with all of them except intergalactic science fiction and experimental fiction. Besides literary and more mainstream works, I'm partial to noir mysteries.
I was employed in the L.A. film industry for years in production and have read and scheduled more scripts than I can count, acquiring a thorough knowledge of feature and TV script form, structure, and content for a visual medium. Have written a dozen screenplays and learned hands-on what works as drama and what seems as lifeless as an iguana under a light bulb.
Have been a licensed counselor, which has brought a deepened insight into human behavior that informs my work as editor and writer. A counseling background also enables me to help those with "writer's block."
My main strength as an editor is in understanding how stories are effectively developed, of how character and plot incidents dynamically interact to build interesting novels and screenplays. I can tell early on in editing a manuscript which elements are lacking and ways to get a story on track.
First and foremost to me is honoring is an author's creative intent.
